Roxy hotel, Executive Lounge, Service Pantry
A study of my place of work from 15th July 2019 - 25th July 2019

Operating the lounge with partial autonomy

Through the constant fear of having to be the only staff on duty, I explored the possibility of giving the lounge an ability to assist me in serving the guest, autonomously.

The hotel I worked in had its own boutique shops, restaurants, and amenities. However, upon visiting the neighboring buildings around this hotel I noticed that there are existing coffee shops, laundrettes, massage parlors, etc. These shops operated individually.
Therefore I explored the idea of a hotel that taps into existing resources/ shops instead of having its own. My concept of an autonomous hotel thus expanded into an autonomous community that allows for various shops and amenities to be "plugged-in" into a larger network of services.
Later I incorporated the tale of Princess Hang lipo's arrival to Bukit Cina into my project narrative to describe the assemblage of an autonomous community.
